Topic 2 - My Explanation on Web 2.0

In the world of E-Commerce, Web 2.0 is one of the biggest buzzwords out there, but what does it exactly mean? This is a question that has been asked by lots of people. Nearly everyone knows that web 2.0 is an umbrella term that contains websites such as Blogs, Wikipedia, YouTube, but is not defined in a clear and understanding way. To explain web 2.0 without any buzzwords would be that it refers to a supposed second generation of Internet-based services that lets you make and control content, and share information online in new ways most common to you is Social Networking sites.

The first part of Web 2.0 is rich Internet Applications. One of the features of this is Ajax.
Ajax is a set of technologies used to build Web 2.0 applications that create the user rich experience that works on any Internet browser. The second part of Web 2.0 is SOA. Service oriented architectures are the most common part of Web 2.0, which includes RSS, and mash-ups. Mash-ups are web-pages that consist from two or more web-sites to create a new service. The third part of Web 2.0 is the social web. Web 2.0 applications tend to interact much more with the end-user, in fact not just an end-user but a participant, whether it’s by tagging content, writing on Wikipedia, or creating a new blog. This means that it is very easy add, create, and update those features.

In conclusion Web 2.0 has brought new levels of richness and interaction to the Internet.
This I believe can benefit businesses by saving time and money and offering a new way of interacting with customers which can increase their loyalty and sales for the business.
However since Web 2.0 is much easier than its predecessor, this means more protection such as Google Web Security which is a service protects us against malware and allows us to have a safe use of the Web 2.0
